Dr. Hans Olav Hygen
Hans Olav Hygen was born 1971 in Trondheim Norway. He defended his PhD in meteorology 2001 on the subject of using weather information to forecast noise propagation. Hans Olav has been working as a climate researcher at Norwegian Meteorological Institute since 2002. The focus of his work has been two-fold: Climate information, and climate resarch with an focus on application of climate information to related research. Examples of the latter is cooperation with construction researchers to asses the effects of climate and weather on constructions, and cooperation with biologists to find weather and climate impacts on for example insects. His climate information work covers a diverse field and includes lecturing, cooperation with the press, generating content for websites, and answering questions from the public.
